Office clearance / London

The 5 best office clearance companies in London

London's best office clearance firms are commercial relocation and recycling specialists rather than man and van outfits. They carry ISO certification, handle IT and confidential waste properly, and report on what was reused. Fewer of them collect public reviews, so we weighted their published credentials carefully.

Your duty of care as a business

Office waste is commercial waste, so council bulky collections and household recycling centres are not an option. The law places a duty of care on your business: you must use a registered waste carrier and keep a waste transfer note for every load, and you remain responsible if your waste is later fly-tipped.

Ask every firm for its waste carrier number and check it on the Environment Agency public register before the job. For computers, phones and printers, ask for a WEEE consignment note and a certificate showing that hard drives were wiped or destroyed, so you can show you met your data protection duties.

None of our London top 5 publish office clearance prices. Expect a free site survey followed by a fixed written quote.

  • Get a site survey or a detailed inventory and a fixed written quote, including access, lifts, parking and any out of hours charges.
  • Check the firm's carrier number on the Environment Agency register and ask for proof of public liability insurance; many landlords also ask for employer's liability and RAMS.
  • Agree how IT equipment will be handled, and ask for data destruction certificates and WEEE paperwork.
  • Ask what will be resold, donated or recycled, and whether resale value can be credited against the cost.
  • Remove or shred confidential paperwork first, or book a certified shredding service.
  • Check your lease for dilapidations: some firms will also strip partitions, carpets and fittings.

How we ranked / London

We started with every business appearing in Google's local results for office clearance in London, then searched for commercial clearance and office furniture recycling specialists with a real base serving the city. We checked each one's website, Companies House record, published licence numbers, accreditations and review platforms such as Trustpilot, Checkatrade and TrustATrader. We removed brokers and lead generation sites that pass your job to another firm, national firms with no depot serving the city, companies that are dissolved and listings we could not tie to a real business. Brands that belong to the same company are listed once. We may also leave out any company at our editorial discretion.

Each remaining firm was scored out of 10 using the same weighting in every city:

Office clearance in London / FAQs

How much does an office clearance cost in London?

None of our London top 5 publish office clearance prices. Expect a free site survey followed by a fixed written quote. The price depends on the volume of furniture, access, floors and lifts, whether IT and confidential waste are included and whether the work is out of hours. Good quality furniture that can be resold can bring the cost down.

What happens to our computers and data?

Computers, screens, phones and printers are WEEE and must be recycled through an approved route. Hard drives and phones should be wiped to a recognised standard or physically destroyed, and you should receive a certificate listing the serial numbers. If a clearance firm does not offer this, use a specialist IT disposal company alongside it.

Can our office furniture be reused or sold?

Yes. Desks, chairs, pedestals and storage in good condition are often resold, donated to charities and schools, or refurbished. Ask each firm what it reuses and whether resale value is credited against your quote.

Can the council take our office waste?

No. Council bulky waste collections and household recycling centres are for household waste only. Businesses must use a registered waste carrier and keep waste transfer notes for every load.

Who is the best office clearance company in London?

On our research, Universal Commercial Relocation ranks first in London, followed by Bishop's Move and The First Mile. The right choice also depends on the size of the job, how much IT equipment you have and whether you need the work done out of hours.
