About Best Waste Companies
An independent guide to the best skip hire, house, junk, office and garage clearance firms in 11 UK cities. Nobody pays to be listed.
What we do
Best Waste Companies is an independent UK directory that ranks waste and clearance firms city by city. For each of the five services we cover, skip hire, house clearance, junk clearance, office clearance and garage clearance, we publish a researched Top 5 for 11 cities: London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Bristol, Sheffield, Cardiff, Newcastle.
Choosing a waste firm is harder than it looks. Search results are full of booking sites that pass your job to someone else, listings that cannot be traced to a real business and firms that do not publish a waste carrier number. If your rubbish is fly-tipped by an unlicensed collector, you can be fined. We built this site to make the honest choice the easy one.
How we research
We start with every business that appears in Google's local results for a service in a city, then check each one: its website, its Companies House record, any published waste carrier or permit numbers, and its reviews on Google and platforms such as Trustpilot, Checkatrade, Which? Trusted Traders and TrustATrader. Every firm is scored out of 10 using the same weighting for that service. The full method is on our How we rank page.
Our promise
- Rankings are based on our own research. Companies cannot pay to be included or to change their position. Any sponsored or featured placement would always be clearly labelled.
- Every ranking shows the date it was last checked and lists the other firms we assessed.
- We tell you what is worth knowing about every firm we rank, including the weak spots.
- We correct mistakes when they are pointed out to us. Read our editorial policy.
What you will find here
- Service rankings: skip hire, house clearance, junk clearance, office clearance and garage clearance, each with a Top 5 for every city.
- City pages: every service for one city on one page, with local prices, skip permit rules and free council options.
- Guides: plain English answers to common questions, from what rubbish removal costs to how to check a waste carrier licence.
