How we keep our rankings independent, accurate and fair, and what happens when we get something wrong.

Independence
Rankings are based on our own research. Companies cannot pay to be included or to change their position. Any sponsored or featured placement would always be clearly labelled.
Links to company websites are provided so you can contact firms directly. They are not affiliate links, and we do not earn commission when you book a firm we list.
How rankings are decided
Every ranking follows the method on our How we rank page: the same checks and the same weighting for every firm offering that service. We record the date each page was checked and list the other firms we assessed, so you can see who else we considered.
Editorial discretion
We may leave out any company at our editorial discretion. We do not always publish the reason, but we never accept payment to include, exclude or move a firm.
Accuracy and corrections
We check facts against company websites, Companies House, regulators and review platforms, and we cite official sources in our guides. Mistakes still happen. If you spot one:
- Tell us through our contact form, with a link to the page and what you think is wrong.
- We will review the evidence and, if we agree, update the page and its checked date.
- Significant corrections to a ranking are reflected in the firm's score and position.
If you run a company we list, or do not list
You are welcome to send us updated information, such as a waste carrier number, a new address or accreditations. We will consider it alongside everything else when the ranking is next reviewed. Sending information does not guarantee a change in position, and we do not accept payment or incentives of any kind.
Reviews and ratings
We report review ratings and counts as they appeared on the date shown. We do not write reviews on behalf of customers, and we do not publish testimonials.
Guides
Our guides are general information, not legal or financial advice. Each one lists its sources and the date it was updated. Rules on waste, permits and fines can change, so check with your council or the regulator before you act.
